Indonesian Ambassador to Russia: Bilateral Relations ‘Entering the Golden Age’

The Ambassador of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and Belarus, H.E.M. Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi, told in the interview the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia are “entering the Golden Age”, reports Sindonews (20.12.2018).

Giving an overlook of Russia-Indonesia relations, the Ambassador outlined the growth in trade of coffee, tea, cigarettes and furniture. In 2017 the Russia investment into the Indonesian economy reached $7.4 million.

Indonesia is one of the major economies in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), especiaaly in halal industry. The Russia-Indonesia trade turnover was worth $3 billion in 2017.

Prospects for cooperation between Russia and the OIC will stand high on the agenda of the world economic summit “Russia – Islamic world: KazanSummit”, organized by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency. The event will be held April 24-26, 2019, in Kazan.
